A marching yell, it may have been the first in the Corps, was originated by Jiggy Burroughs, as I was told...about '44 or '45....it went like this:
The Captain would Order "Black and Gold, March" The Company would respond, in cadence, spelling:
"B- L- A- C-K" "G-O-L-D"
Black and Gold Hard to hold Ray Rah C"
