   Hello fellow Marshallites,
          I am Sandra Cheatham Nelson, class of 1956.
       I am serving as the Web Master of the John Marshall High School Cadet Corps Alumni Web site as well as the Editor of the Newsletter : The Guidon.
       It is an honor and a privilege to do my part in keeping the Corps and our school alive in our hearts.
     Please feel free to email me any suggestions, ideas or information pertaining to the Web site and The Guidon. 
      We would like your memories and pictures to add to the Web site.
      As for pictures, you may either email them in an attachment, mail  a copy, or  just drop them by.
      Also, please notify me of any additions or corrections that I might have overlooked. The Web site will continually be updated.
     If you prefer not to have you picture or any information listed of yourself, please notify me and I will remove it from the site.

      Regarding the Guidon Newsletter :  it has been suggested to put the Guidon on line. True, it would be less costly. However, we from the old school of thought  feel that there is much more anticipation to have the Newsletter come by mail. Compare it to your newspaper. Sitting down with a cup of coffee, turning the pages of the day's news, is a great way to start your day.  We will, however, occasionally have exerpts of the Guidon on line.

For inquiring minds: 

 Some may question: why is a "girl" writing the Cadet Guidon Newsletter and now....... the designer of the Cadet Alumni Web site?   And who is she anyway?
       It all began in 1952 when I wore the D Company Colors of  your Alumni President, Richard "Dick" Barrett. In time, we married and had a son, Richard Barrett Jr. We are now proud grandparents of three grandchildren. We are no longer married, but remain good friends.
    Richard was aware that I am the editor of my church newsletter as well as the webmaster for my Church Web site. I also have three other Web sites;  2 are for business, and the third, my husband's christian poetry and prose Web site.
    When asked to do the Guidon, I was delighted, and  I sincerely thank everyone for their positive feedback.
    One day, an idea took form in my mind. I suggested to Richard that it would be great to have a Cadet Alumni Web site. Just think of how many people we could reach. We could also link it to the JMHS Reunion Band Web site, as well.  The idea went before the Cadet Alumni Board and  was voted upon favorably.
  So here I am, serving my school, some 50 plus years later, pecking away, self-taught, on my computer. It is like being a kid again.
Who knew... I never even took typing!!!
