John Davis Wingfield Company E. 1934

The U.S. Navy destroyer escort ship was named"Wingfield", in honor of Ensign John Davis Wingfield, a Navy dive pilot who was lost in the Battle of the Coral Sea. He was awarded the Navy Cross for bravery during this battle.

Philip B. May Company A 1936

Philip B. May, Company A, served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a pilot. He flew in World War II and the Korean War. His numerous decorations included the distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

John M. Patton Company D. 1937

A career as an Air Force officer and pilot. Flew in three wars: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Decorations include: The Legion of Merit ( twice), the distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and the Air Medal. Retired form the Air Force as a Colonel.

Joseph Beard Jr. The Staff 1939

During World War II, Jack served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard and took part in the invasion of Africa and later in U.S. Naval Aviation as an air crewman in long-range bombers in the Western Pacific.

Willard P. Milby Jr. Company C. 1939

On D_Day, when the Allies invaded France at Normandy, among the first invading troops wading ashore with the 4th Infantry Division on Utah Beach was Lieutenant (later Major General) Willard Milby Jr.

Jack S. Harris F. Co. Staff 1940

It has been noted that Jack probably was the first American Soldier to enter Rome, Italy when the city was liberated on, June 6, 1944.

J. Harter Klingel Company F 1940

During World War II, was an Air Force P-47 Fighter Pilot. Shot down in Germany in February 1945, and taken prisoner.

Frank T. Klinker Company A 1941

Served in World War II as a gunner on a B-24 bomber with the 8th Air Force flying out of England into Germany. Was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Lawrence E. Faison, Company E 1956

Lawrence “Larry” E. Faison, Company E served 31 years in the Air Force as an officer and fighter pilot including 247 combat missions in Viet Nam flying the F-4 aircraft. His numerous decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters and the Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters. He is also an honorary member of the French Lafayette Escadrille of WWI fame and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
